Guest Information

We are so glad to have you as our guest here at Smiling Hill Farmhouse and hope that your visit is relaxing and enjoyable. Here are a few things you’ll need to know during your visit and when you check out. If you have any questions during your stay please feel free to email or call us. 

Check-In

  • Check-in time is 4pm.

TV and Internet

  • Large screen smart TV
  • High-Speed Internet – We provide wireless Internet and the password is provided on site on the instruction sheet at the coffee station. Speeds typically are between 75-250 mbps download and 10-30 mbps upload.

Charging your devices

  • There are USB ports on all the nightstands as well as next to the coffee pots in the kitchen and on the bookshelf in the living room for your convenience.

Charcoal Grill

  • If you use the charcoal grill you must place hot coals in the bucket with a lid located next to the grill. Make sure it is left away from any combustible items.

Outdoor Games

  • There is a basketball goal located in the parking area beside house. We do not provide a ball so be sure and pack yours to bring! The goal is adjustable and can be lowered for non-NBA players.
  • There is a large field in front of the house where football, frisbee, etc can be played.

Trash

  • Place your trash in the cans located in the wooden bin outside the back door in the laundry room. Please make sure the lids are secured tightly.
  • If you generate more trash than the cans will hold, please drop it off at the convenience station 4 minutes away at 21635 Spoon Gap Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211. Their hours are: Mon 12-7; Tues 9-6; Wed Closed; Th 9-6; Fri 11-5; Sat 8-5.

Emergency Contacts

Check Out is 10 am

  • Linens – Strip beds you have used and leave linens on the floor in respective room.
  • Towels – Leave towels hanging to dry (do not leave on floor wet).
  • Kitchen – Run dishwasher before you leave and make sure all dishes are cleaned, put away, and the refrigerator is emptied and clean.
  • Doors/windows – Make sure all doors and windows are closed and locked.
